The days are getting longer and the trees are starting to get their leaves back. It’s time to end the hibernation and put away your snow boots. Spring is here, and that means it’s time for new beginnings.  

Not only is Spring the perfect time for a fresh start, but it’s also a great opportunity to get your home in order. Follow these tips for an easy and effective spring clean that will help you feel accomplished and organized.  

1. Start with Decluttering  

Before tackling any deep cleaning, try decluttering your space first. Go through closets and get rid of clothes and other items you no longer need. Create piles for donating to thrift stores or charities, and also consider creating a pile of things that need to be thrown out. Clear out these piles before moving on to other tasks so that you don’t create additional clutter.

Next, go through your pantry and throw away any expired food. With a marker, clearly write the dates on items that you need to use before they expire. This will help you to see right away what food to use first in your pantry.

While you’re at it, clear out any old paperwork and files you no longer need. It may be helpful to separate files that need to be shredded before throwing them away. As you work through these tasks, make sure you are focusing one room at a time, so that you don’t feel overwhelmed.

2. Make a Cleaning List  

Once unnecessary items are removed from your home, create a cleaning list of stuff you’d like to get down. We put together a list you can use to get started:

• Clean out: fridge and wipe down appliances 
• Wipe down: walls, floors, windows 
• Dust: ceiling fans, baseboards, and lightbulbs
• Wash: curtains, sheets, bedding, and bath mats

Remember, not everything needs to be done at once. Take your time and decide the most important place to start. Everyone’s cleaning list will look a little different.

3. Use Safe Cleaning Products 

There are many household products you may already have that you can use to clean with. White vinegar, dish soap, and diluted essential oils like lemon, tea tree oil, and eucalyptus can be used in various ways.

Open your windows when you clean so that fresh air can enter your home. Make sure you are using products that are safe and work best for what you want to accomplish.

4. Fill Your Home with Fresh Scents 

After you’re finished with your spring cleaning, make sure you change your HVAC air filters to ensure clean air to breathe. Dust off any air vents or wipe clean with a wet rag.

With just a few simple ingredients, you’ll have warm and delicious cookies to share with your family and friends. Save this recipe because you may just need a full batch for yourself!  

Our inspiration for this recipe comes from one of our most sought-after scents, the Sugar Cookie Crunch Classic Wax Melt, which will keep around that delicious scent of fresh baked cookies long after the plate is empty. 

You’ll Need: 

• 1 cup butter (we like using sweet cream salted butter) 
• 1 egg 
• 2 tsp vanilla extract 
• A dash of maple syrup 
• 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar 
• 2 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour (for a gluten-free option, simply use whatever flour alternatives you like) 
• 1/2 tsp baking soda 
• 1/2 tsp baking powder 
• 1/4 tsp salt 

Prepare the Dough: 

Before you start mixing, make sure that your egg and butter are at room temperature. It’s very important that none of the ingredients are cold before you start mixing.  

Use an electric mixer to cream together the butter and sugar with an electric mixer. Next, beat in the egg, vanilla, and maple syrup. Once the batter is smooth, use a whisk to slowly add the dry ingredients. Mix well.  

Roll Out and Cut the Cookies: 

Prepare a lightly floured surface for rolling out the dough. You can either roll the dough into one-inch balls or use cookie cutters to create any desired shape.  

Scoop the dough out and use a roller to flatten if you want to cut out shapes. Place dough on a lightly greased baking sheet, at least two inches apart.  

Bake the Cookies: 

Preheat oven to 375°F. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly golden. Allow cookies to cool on pan for a few minutes before removing with a flat spatula.  

Pro tip: remember that the cookies will continue baking on the pan even after they are removed from the oven, so if they look a little golden on the edges but doughy in the middle, you can still pull them out of the oven to avoid overcooking.  

Decorate:  

If you want to frost your cookies, let them cool completely before decorating. For an easy frosting, mix 1/3 cup of softened butter, 4 1/2 cups of powdered sugar, 1/4 cup of milk, and 1/2 tsp vanilla extract.  

Feel free to add food coloring to create any color of frosting you like. Add sprinkles on top and enjoy! Store any leftover cookies in an airtight container for up to 1 week, although we doubt there will be any leftovers.

There are so many different fragrances to choose from when it comes to candles and wax melts. Sometimes you want them all! This is why we like using wax melts because they are more cost-effective. You can have about 7 different wax melt fragrances for the price of one candle.

What if you have a candle warming lamp or lantern, but not a wax warmer?

Candles aren’t the only wax you are able to use with a candle warming lamp or lantern. If you use our Flip Dishes, you can also use your favorite wax melts!

Removing used wax melts from your wax warmer dish can be a bit challenging. Either you pour the melted wax back into the wax tray or you try to pop it out of the dish. Sometimes those wax pucks can be stubborn and not want to come out, and putting the wax dish in the freezer doesn’t always work and can crack your dish.
