• 12 ounces high-quality dark chocolate, chopped

Instructions:

1. Prepare Your Workspace: Before you begin, line a baking sheet with parchment paper. This will make it easier to remove the peppermint bark once it has set.

2. Melt the Dark Chocolate: In a heatproof bowl, melt the dark chocolate using a double boiler or in the microwave at 30-second intervals, stirring in between. Once fully melted, add half of the peppermint extract (1/2 teaspoon) and stir until well combined.

3. Pour and Spread: Pour the melted dark chocolate onto the prepared baking sheet, spreading it into an even layer with a spatula.

4. Chill: Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes, or until the dark chocolate has set.

5. Melt the White Chocolate: Similarly, melt the white chocolate using the same method. Once melted, stir in the remaining half of the peppermint extract (1/2 teaspoon).

6. Layer the White Chocolate: Take the baking sheet out of the refrigerator and carefully spread the melted white chocolate over the dark chocolate layer.

7. Add Toppings: While the white chocolate is still soft, sprinkle crushed candy canes and chopped pistachios on top. For an extra festive touch, add red and green sprinkles.

8. Chill Again: Return the baking sheet to the refrigerator and let the peppermint bark set completely. This usually takes about 1-2 hours.

9. Break Into Pieces: Once fully set, remove the peppermint bark from the refrigerator and break it into bite-sized pieces.

Hi! I’m Annette, the social media manager here at Candle Warmers, and in honor of National Sugar Cookie Day (July 9th) I am sharing with you my famous Bakery Style Sugar Cookie Recipe from my blog, Tips From a Typical Mom.

These sugar cookies will make your home smell like a bakery, but if you don’t have time, or don’t like to bake, you can make your home smell like you have by melting our Sugar Cookie Crunch Classic Wax Melts instead!

Let’s get baking!

Bakery Style Sugar Cookies with Buttercream Frosting

2 cups butter
2 ¼ cups sugar
4 large eggs
1 cup milk
7 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp almond or vanilla flavor
½ tsp salt

1. Cream together butter and sugar until fluffy.
2. Add eggs, then milk. Scrape the sides of the bowl often.
3. Stir in the remaining ingredients.  The dough will be soft and sticky. It should still pull away from the sides of the bowl, if not add more flour a little at a time until it does.
4. Place dough on a well-floured workspace.
5. Gently roll out to 1/2 inch thick.
6. Cut into desired shapes and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
7. Bake at 325 for 14  minutes or until just the edges barely start to change colors. Makes approx. 4 dozen. Let cool on a cooling rack until completely cooled

Buttercream Frosting

2 sticks of unsalted butter- softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 tablespoons milk
about 2 cups powdered sugar
pinch of salt (only if you use unsalted butter, do not add this pinch of salt if you are using salted butter)
food coloring (optional)

1. Start out by beating the butter until smooth with a whisk attachment on your beater or stand mixer. 
2. With the mixer still going on medium, add the vanilla and milk and whisk until smooth and incorporated. 
3. Add a pinch of salt while the wet ingredients are mixing. 
4. Turn the mixer to low and slowly add the powdered sugar a little at a time until smooth. 
5. Add powdered sugar until you have reached the desired consistency.  For cookies, I like my frosting pretty thick. Two to two and a half cups usually works for me.
6. Add food coloring if desired and mix well.
7. Spread frosting on cooled cookies and sprinkle with your favorite sprinkles.

How To Make The Best Cinnamon Rolls Ever:

Rolls Ingredients:

• 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
• 3/4 cup warm milk (no hotter than 110 degrees f)
• 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
• 1 egg
• 1/4 cup melted butter
• 3 cups flour
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 2 cups heavy cream

Filling:

• 1/2 cup softened butter
• 2 tablespoons cinnamon
• 2/3 cups brown sugar

Frosting Ingredients:

• 4 oz. cream cheese softened
• 3 tablespoons softened butter
• 3/4 cup powdered sugar
• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:

Add milk, sugar, and yeast to the bowl of a stand mixer. Mix and then let stand for about 5 minutes to let it start bubbling. Add melted butter and stir. Whisk the egg in a small bowl and slowly add to the mixture in the bowl while it’s mixing. Mix until well combined. With a dough hook, slowly add flour and salt. Stir on a low speed with your dough hook for about 8 minutes. The dough should not stick to your fingers now, but if it does, add more flour to the dough a tablespoon at a time until it is pulling away from the bowl and it doesn’t stick to your fingers.

Transfer dough to an oiled bowl and cover with a tea towel. Let rise until doubled. About an hour and a half.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Roll dough on a well-floured surface into a 12 x 9-inch rectangle. Spread softened butter all over dough then sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon evenly over the butter.

Tightly roll the dough up, starting from the 12-inch side and pinch the seam so your rolls stay rolled up. Cut into 1 inch pieces and add to a sprayed 9×13 pan.

Pour heavy whipping cream all over the top of the rolls.

Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and not doughy. Remove from oven and let cool for 10 minutes.

While the rolls are cooling, make the frosting. In the bowl of an electric mixer, combine cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Spread over cinnamon rolls and serve immediately.

Independence Day is coming up soon and there’s nothing more American than apple pie, right? Today we are sharing with you one of our favorite recipes for an easier way to make and eat apple pie- Hot Apple Pie Pockets. This recipe was inspired by our Hot Apple Pie Wax Melts that make your home smell just like mom’s baking. Our Hot Apple Pie Wax Melts contain notes of apple, lemon, cranberry, cinnamon, and vanillin.  

Easy Hot Apple Pie Pockets Recipe

This recipe is easy to make with pre-made puff pastry sheets and you can even substitute our homemade apple filling with canned apple pie mix for an even easier recipe.

What you’ll need:

• 4 baking apples (we like Granny Smith apples if you want them tart or Fuji Apples for sweet)
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• 1/3 cup water
• 3 tablespoons butter
• 2 tablespoons brown sugar
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
• 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
• A pinch of salt
• 1 sheet puff pastry
• 1 egg for egg wash

Directions:

1. Peel and dice apples.
2. Stir water and baking powder together in a small bowl.
3. Combine the baking powder-water mixture, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a medium-size skillet over medium-high heat. 
4. Whisk together until combined and mixture has become thick and bubbly.
5. Add apples and stir until they are fully coated and tender.
6. Lay the pastry out and flatten with a rolling pin so that it is about ¼-inch (6cm) thick throughout.
7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).Slice pastry into 6 rectangles using a sharp knife or fancy rotary cutter. 
8. Spoon apple mixture onto top 6 rectangles. Dip your finger in water and line the outer rim of each rectangle. Fold over the pastry and press lightly to seal. 
9. If desired, use a fork and press the sides around each rectangle to seal the filling in.
10. Whisk an egg and brush it over the top of each pie with a pastry brush, then place them on a greased baking sheet.
11. Using a knife, make 3 or 4 slits in each pie.
12. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
13. Let cool for at least 10 minutes before enjoying.
