CANDLE WARMERS: A SCENT-SIBLE
ALTERNATIVE TO TRADITIONAL CANDLES

LAYTON, Utah - JANUARY 9, 2009
- While candles provide a relaxing atmosphere and compliment a home’s décor, candles with flames can also greatly increase the chance of property damage, injury, or death from fire. By removing an open flame, the consumer can choose to avoid the top reason of how candle fires begin, suggests Candle Warmers Etc.

According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), more than half of all candle fires start when something that could burn, such as furniture, holiday decorations, or curtains, was too close to a candle’s open flame.

The Community Association Underwriters of America, Inc., in their “CAU Risk Management Guide” [P-4(4/07)], advises consumers to “consider using an Underwriters Laboratory®-listed candle warmer instead of a lit candle.”

Candle Warmers Etc.’s Director of Product Development Brian Beesley comments: “An electric candle warmer is a safer alternative to burning a candle. Our patented candle warming devices use low heat instead of an open flame to melt candle wax and allow the candle’s scent to permeate throughout a space. These devices also eliminate the production of soot, which over time can damage ceilings, walls, floors and personal belongings.

“In addition, by using a candle warmer, the consumer isn’t exposed to indoor air pollution, which heightens during the winter months,” continued Beesley.
Additional information on candles and fire safety is available through the NFPA (www.nfpa.org) and the NCA (www.candles.org).
